This public consultation started out with the council failing to announce it on their website, and it is finishing with them failing to inform us where to hand the petition opposing the proposal in to.

We emailed them on Sunday:

subject DCO Consultation Petition...URGENT

I am collecting signatures on a petition for the public consultation regarding the proposals for the changes to the Dog Control Orders, which ends on the 18th December.

Could you please inform me at your earliest convenience whereabouts in Ryde I will be able to hand the petition in prior to the closing date.

Last time following a similar consultation it was arranged for the petition to be handed in at the Ryde Help Centre.

Yours Sincerely

Today is Thursday and having heard nothing we emailed them again:

subject Fwd: DCO Consultation Petition...URGENT

Would you please have the professionalism to respond to thisrequest, as you are supposedly running a public consultation and thisis a matter of urgency.

--

Yours Sincerely

Strangely enough the last time we had a public consultation on the councils proposals for their Dog Control Orders (October 2007) they continually ignored our requests to be informed of where to hand that petition in, until finally we were forced to contact Andrew Turner to intervene on our behalf as there was only three days to the deadline.

Doesn't it give you a warm feeling to know that the people we are employing to serve us have such respect for us?

I also had the same problem with a petition i ran and Andrew Turner even delivered it personally to the council!!! and they recieved before the deadline and they still failed to put it on the website or acknowledge it even existed !! it had over 600 signatures on it luckily Andrew Turners office photocopied it before delivering it and so we went to the County Press and got them highlight our Councils non actions or acknowledgements !!
It also turned out to be a council donedeal anyway as they took no notice of how many residents and Business`s over 600 !! opposed this planning application

The only reason they finally responded to our emails was that I sent them a link to this blog entry which shamed them into co-operating.

They can get away with such disgraceful conduct because at the end of the day they are unaccountable as the only watchdog they have is a sham.
